I live in Derbyshire, and work from a local studio space which allows me to develop ideas, and make new works, using traditional felt making techniques. The sea and landscape are strong influences when experimenting with materials and exploring form and texture. After graduating with a 1st class BA Hons in Visual Arts and Printmaking in 1994, I worked for several years in stone carving. Since then my work has progressed more toward textiles, and in particular felt making. In 2012 I studied for a postgraduate diploma in Tapestry and Textile art at West Dean College where I achieved a distinction, and was awarded a Trustees Prize for my progress. I also run a series of workshops, which can be adapted to suit all abilities and ages. |
